Based on the Gold Coast, open to Brisbane and surrounds — on-site, hybrid or remote. I have been in Australia since December 2023.

I hold a student visa valid to March 2027, which limits me to 48 hours per fortnight. I am looking for an employer able to sponsor a 482, at which point I am available full time; part-time or contract work suits the current restriction in the meantime.

The work so far has been in Japan: client and internal systems, TypeScript end to end, in roles running from sole developer to project manager over a team of three to five. Server, web and mobile in one language is a deliberate choice rather than a habit — when the same domain concept has to be expressed in three places, one vocabulary is what stops the definitions drifting apart.

I work written-first. I write specifications and design notes before I build, and I prefer requirements in writing — which is how the case studies on this site came to exist.

I learned to program at 42 Tokyo, part of the 42 Network — a school with no lectures, where you learn by reading and critiquing other students' code. That is where the review habit in my work comes from. 42 has a campus in Adelaide.

Review is still where I think most of the value in a team sits. On the largest project here my job was mostly technical direction and code review rather than writing the code myself.

Everything described on this site is client or in-house work, so the code is not mine to publish. What is public is word-book, a vocabulary app I built for my own use: local-only SQLite, no account and no server, with the reasoning behind those choices written up in the README. It is a small thing next to the work above, but it is code you can read rather than a claim you have to take on trust.
